This was perhaps my favourite part of Wall-E. The first half of the film if a pretty touching love story of the highest calibre, but it lost me in the second half (with the exception of the fire extinguisher dance and the faulty umbrella). As it got to the end and I was sitting and cynically going, pffff, humans have no chance, the end credits roll up. The idea is pretty obvious but brilliantly executed. I've been thinking about patterns and tapestries and how they work in panoramic compositions. Then I remembered this.
